My goal this year is to regain my interest in reading. Last year, I kind of lost my bookworm side. With the busy sched, I didn’t have the time to do what I really love: read fiction. I think I’ve read a total of 5 fiction novels last year. Most I didn’t even read with 100% interest.

So this year, especially now that I have Sherlock (my Kobo), I’m starting over. I’m gonna try to read at least 2 books per month, and since summer’s coming.. I think I’ll be able to do atleast 25 books for the year. Hopefully more.

One of the free books Sherlock had was Sh!t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern. The title seemed familiar, and it was only after the first few pages that I realized that I’ve been following the author of the book in Twitter for quite some time now.

The book was, to simply put, very, VERY entertaining. It was so fun to read that I think I finished it in atleast 2 hours or so.

Whenever I read, I usually highlight or quote striking passages I encounter, but this was one of the books where choosing a single striking text is almost impossible because every single sentence you’ll read will be ‘striking’ enough to be quotable.

Aside from the many genuine laughs I got, the book also touched my cardiac walls. The dad’s endearing personality and the sweetness of their relationship as father and son tickled my hard-as-nut heart. And the fact that the book was based on real accounts, made it even more inspiring.
